Language Immersion School in North OrangeLooking for a competitive, challenging private school for your child?

Interested in something more than just a traditional school format?

Want to give your child a gift that will last a lifetime?

If you answered ‘yes’ to any of the above questions, we invite you consider Frontiers Academy for your child’s education. Children, especially young children, are able to acquire foreign languages much more rapidly and perfectly (without accent) than young adults and adults. At Frontiers Academy, we structure our Chinese (Mandarin), Spanish, and English trilingual immersion program to be:

  • fun
  • dynamic
  • challenging
  • interactive
  • hands-on
  • participatory
  • positive
  • encouraging
  • safe
  • academically rigorous

Here are some questions you might like to have answered:

1. How can my child get a comprehensive education at Frontiers Academy if the whole thing is geared toward teaching foreign languages?

Some parents think they have to choose between learning a foreign language and academic rigor. The beautiful thing about language immersion is that both can be accomplished simultaneously. Imagine your child in his or her traditional school. They are taught all core subjects in English. It’s the same idea with language immersion, except the majority of the time the core subjects are being taught in the foreign language. In other words, the child is “immersed” in the language. So rather than being taught a foreign language, students are taught in a foreign language.

Our curriculum exceeds state standards and teaches all core subjects (math, science, social studies, language arts, etc.) including English. Our environment is academically challenging and is designed to instruct each child where they are and help them meet their potential.

2. Isn’t language immersion frustrating for a child?

While some initial frustration or confusion is to be expected, within a couple of weeks the child has already become comfortable with the foreign language. We are happy to say that we rarely (if ever) experience the problem of student frustration at Frontiers. Not only is our school day intentionally structured to prevent such frustration, but it is much more than just verbal. Our teachers use their hands, their senses, body language, art, music, and more to convey and model the principles being taught. You would be amazed to see how much fun our students are having!

And contact us to schedule a tour of our facilities – see how our classrooms work! (We currently offer Preschool, Kindergarten, and First Grade. Second Grade coming in the 2015-16 school year, and one grade level added each year thereafter.)

3. Couldn’t I just put my child in extra-curricular language classes?

You could, but they would be missing out on the enrichment and lasting benefits of language immersion. Check out this article about the differences between language immersion and language classes.

Here are some of the benefits of language immersion:

  • better math skills
  • higher standardized test scores (including SATs)

  • better multi-tasking skills
